Help The Culligan Family
Updated On: Jul 212, 2017

Brothers and Sisters,

Willoughby Ohio Firefighter, Seamus Culligan was diagnosed with a brain tumor and ultimately diagnosed with brain cancer on January 5th 2017.  We are awaiting Seamus's disability pension hearing which should be held in August.  We are cautiously optimistic that he will be approved for a disability pension with the Ohio Police and Fire Pension System.  The Culligan family will be facing significant healthcare expenses going forward.  We are grateful of the recent legislation passed in Ohio to protect firefighters like Seamus.  The Michael Louis Palumbo Jr. Act, formerly known as Ohio Senate Bill 27, was signed into law by Ohio Gov. John Kasich on Jan. 4 2017, the day before Seamus was diagnosed.  Until we are able to secure continued treatments through the Ohio BWC, our plan is to utilize the employer healthcare via COBRA then will seek out whatever healthcare options exist for the Culligan family. As you can imagine Seamus and his family will be facing significant expenses during his fight.

We ask you to view the news story by Cleveland's NBC affiliate WKYC.  They do a great job telling the story.    http://www.wkyc.com/news/local/lake-county/willoughby-firefighter-battling-brain-cancer/440914974

We are trying to raise funds to help our brother and his family in his time of need. There are a number of ways you can help.

Come out Saturday August 5th 2017 and participate in the 2nd Annual Palumbo Pub Crawl, in Downtown Willoughby.  Proceeds will help the Culligan Family.  The event is put on by the Palumbo Ohio Firefighters Foundation in cooperation with the Willoughby Firefighters Local 2291.  Info for the event can be found at the following links:
